Vince Pontillo-(they/he) is a studio jeweler, educator, and Founder of hishis Studio - an inclusively queer jewelry workshop where they make one-of-a-kind and limited production collections while instructing a variety of contemporary craft workshops.
Vince received their MFA in Metalsmithing and Jewelry Design from Indiana University, Bloomington in 2015, and his BFA in Metals /Jewelry Design from SUNY Buffalo State University in 2012. Nationally and internationally recognized, their work has been exhibited in locations such as Mette Saabye’s Gallery (Copenhagen DNK), Bilk Gallery (Canberra AUS), Seton Hill University’s Harlan Gallery (Greensburg PA), .M Contemporary (Woollahra, Sydney AUS), Gallery Marzee (Nijmegen NLD), and Espace Solidor (Place du Château, Cagnes-sur-Mer FRA) where his work is permanently collected.
Vince’s current collection, stack’a dimes, combines his love of learning to MIG weld with their dad at the age of 8 and his passion for making jewelry. This personal connection to making becomes a way for them to conceptually address familial connections, preciousness and intimacy through the format of studio jewelry.
